Know the Lingo Before You Sail!

New to cruising? Don’t worry — here’s a quick guide to help you talk like a cruise pro! 

Bow = The front of the ship
Stern (or Aft) = The back of the ship
Port = The left side when facing forward
Starboard = The right side when facing forward
Muster Drill  = A safety briefing before departure 
Tender  = A small boat that takes you ashore when the ship can’t dock
Lido Deck  = The pool deck (bring your flip-flops! )
Shore Excursion   = An off-ship adventure or tour 
Cabin = Your room onboard
Sea Day  = A day at sea with no port stops — hello, spa day!
